(Various Artists 1960's - 2000's)
.
The inspiration for this somewhat 'average post' comes from a recent 2 week stay in hospital for which I was only released 5 days ago. Several operations later and a 12 month battle with Bowel Cancer has resulted in a good prognosis for which I am very grateful, especially to a wonderful medical team consisting of surgeons, oncologist, radiologist and gastroenterologist.
During this time, I have been able to maintain this blog as best I could although the number of posts has dwindled more recently, requiring me to schedule postings in advance for those times when I have not been in front of my trusty computer and research materials.
The obvious theme for this post is centred on 'Bad Health' and songs related to this theme have been drawn from my collection for this very SICK compilation (pun intended).
.
I have only included songs with a minimum quality of MP3 (320kps) along with custom made cover artwork. There is a wide variety of music genre on this homemade compilation, yet all songs have a common theme of 'bad health' and are mostly well known. The one band that you may not be familiar with is the 'Cold Chisel sound-a-like' band called Koritini, an Australian band formed in the early 2000's. The remaining tracks and bands should be familiar to you, closing with Zepplin's epic "In My Time Of Dying", making this an interesting and diverse compilation, released on my special custom label called 'Sick Records'
So, to put sum things up; Aussie Rock is officially back to fight another day

Thanks for your kind thoughts Ray.I am one of the lucky ones as the Chemo Treatment was a real eye opener on the battles that others are fighting.
DeleteGreat to hear the worst has past. Here's a bonus track for your compilation. Warren Zevon's "My Shit's Fucked Up".

LOL You made my day. Appreciate your sentiments
DeleteHang in there man. All par for the course. I love nurses, the way they can keep my spirits up.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer;) goood to hear that all went well and are rockin' on and best wishes for your recovery. --note to all mature Aussie Rockers, do the poo test-- note to Mr. Aussierock, unless one is a hound dog 320kps is more than adequate for most ears, especially ones ones where the sound hairs have been shaken off by plenty of good loud vinyl rock in younger years. What's that you say? no need to apologise.
ReplyDeleteAll the best and thanks for all the good stuff.

Thanks for your kind thoughts Eduardo
DeleteWith respect to the Poo Test - BEWARE ! - I had done the test twice before finding out I had a tumour, and both tests came back NEGATIVE. The test is only effective if you are 'actually bleeding' at the time of the test, and in my case I wasn't, it would seem.
Visible blood in my Poo was the reason why I realised something was wrong. I am one of the lucky ones, as it was still in its early stages.
The only fool proof way of knowing is to have a colonoscopy regularly, once you hit your 50's.
I don't want to turn this into a pooey forum but - you are absolutely correct about the poo screening program - it is only a first step and only looks for traces of blood, but can find tiny amounts of 'occult' blood. I have done 3 tests all negative, and had to laugh at the results letter -- your test is negative, this does NOT mean that you DO NOT have cancer!..bummer!!
DeleteHowever my niece's test came back positive and she subsequently had the tumor and some bowel removed, she said she was well and had no signs at all prior to the test, she is well now with no signs of the big C. She says the test most likely saved her life.
So if the screening program cheats old "Grimbo the harvester" of customers it is well worth doing, and what else does the government give you for free?? (Actually once you turn 65 there's the flu and pneumonia vaccines and in a couple of years I can look forward to the Herpes shot :( ;) !!!
I thought I was in deep shit once after a meal with beetroots as the main veg!!
Nuf said, stay well and best wishes,

Love ya humour mate - take care.
DeleteGlad to hear that you are on the mend.
ReplyDeleteI love the concept of this compilation; an extra point is deserved for the artists' name on track 10.
All the best on your road to recovery mate. Don't know if you've heard but April Byron died recently
ReplyDeleteHi Kimbo, thanks for your kind words. No, I hadn't heard - so sad, she was such a great performer in her days
DeleteRock on and ALWAYS keep fighting the good fight! You post great stuff and this is one American that appreciates the Aussie way! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeff - appreciate your kind thoughts all the way from the great USA
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're on the mend and have a good prognosis — having the last 2 1/2 years in a medical battle of my own (not life threatening but definitely life changing), I have at least some appreciation for what you have been through. Glad you're back with us and thanks from my hospital room in the U.S. for your great blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks David and all the best for your own health challenges. Oh, and I hold the utmost respect for The Medical / Nursing fraternity who are never thanked enough for what they do. Sure, they get paid but they are very special people - so patient and caring.
DeleteJeez mate had no idea you were having troubles glad to hear your prognosis is good and that you'll be around for a long time.
ReplyDeleteGood luck Tony.
By the way you've prompted me to get my paperwork done for my colonoscopy
ReplyDeleteA belated thank you for your kind words Tony. Make sure you follow through with the colonoscopy, if not just for peace of mind.
