I can't believe you guys got togethe...Hi Gary,

I can't believe you guys got together so recently. I got into you around Walk on Fire when I read about you in the Kerrang 1/3 of a page feature. Wearing the poppies! Three or four years later I wrote several articles for Kerrang when I went back to college to study newspaper reporting in Belfast. I got the album after the article and I absolutely loved it. Terri Hooley, who I visited in Good Vibrations on Gt Victoria St almost every day when studying at UUJ (The Poly), got me your first double A side single - 12th of Never/All the Kings men. He also gave out to a donegal man for wearing a poppy - it was the poppy not the fact that I was from Donegal and wearing it that Terri objected to and when I saw the good vibrations film, I realised his dad had been very anti-war.
Later I saw you in UUJ before I left and had a beer with the band after. You guys were incredulous that you had a fan and wrote as much in the Heartland single I brought with me that night I bought Deep when it was released in Our Price in Slough, a dump where I found work after leaving the Poly, and it was my favourite album. I was gutted when that was the end of it. As the years passed, I bought up most of your releases on eBay and hoped I would bump into you guys again somehow. I even searched YouTube and Facebook but never found a Silent Running page or live video. Through the connectivity of the internet I have got to know guys from great bands I liked over the years all over the world - Baby Animals from Australia, Possum Dixon from California, the Rainmakers from Missouri, and Jason and the Scorchers from Nashville to mention but a few. I even ran into the guys from Ghost of an American Airman, and also the lads from In Dust (a industrial outfit also from Belfast I liked) several times again over the years but for all I knew, you guys were gone from Belfast. I even went back to Terri who was unable to help. But he did sell me the only vinyl record GOAA made on a major (the very very rare promo only Atlantic 12" of Honeychild) so it wasn't a completely wasted trip. He's closed again now.

Like the previous comments above, as a long-time (non-creepy, LOL) fan I would dearly love to hear any live recordings or any unreleased material if it exists. I dug for it online but it never appeared.

My email address is scopemagazine@gmail.com
I am now back in Dublin but heading up to Belfast in a fortnight ago to attend a college pal from Newtownbreda's 50th Birthday. Christ, that's the territory I am almost in myself now!
If you were interested in meeting for a coffee/pint/chat, that would be special for me. If you aren't, that's cool too.

And do you know how I stumbled across this post? I was recommending Walk on Fire to a friend called Daniel Browne who sings in a band in Dublin - it for sale for €4 on a buy and sell site down south here - and I wanted to show him a positive review from the web to finally get him to buy it!
Take care and pass my best wishes on to all the lads from the band you are in touch with.

Cheers,

Robbie LoveAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07885445456388578757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047234333310975506.post-63727758497655940922017-07-25T07:32:27.885+10:002017-07-25T07:32:27.885+10:00Phil,
